Máire McMahon
Máire McMahon is a proud native of Listowel in Co. Kerry, although her grandmother was originally from Ladyswell Street, in Cashel so she has some connection and lots of relations in the town of Cashel & Cahir.
Máire studied law in University College Cork and attended the University of East Anglia in Norwich, United Kingdom where she obtained a Masters in Family Law and Family Policy, and qualified as a Solicitor in 2001, the same year that she began working in Donal T. Ryan Solicitors LLP.
Máire is now the partner who heads the Cahir office, and is also family law specialist within the office. She now deals with all matters of family law, and having practiced for a number of years in the District Court now concentrates exclusively on Circuit Court, and High Court. She deals with all aspects of prenuptial / separation / cohabitants agreements/ divorce and surrogacy matters. Máire is a member of the Family Lawyers Association of Ireland and was a member of the Sub Committee on reforms of the family law courts.
In November 2021 and November 2022 Máire’s expertise in family law was recognised, when the firm of Donal T. In addition to family law, Máire also deals with all aspects of conveyancing; residential, commercial and agricultural and has given presentations at many farming events on the issues arising when transferring the family farm.
She holds a Diploma in Property Tax from the Law Society of Ireland and due to her keen interest in Charity Law and the governance of charities, and holds a Certificate in Charity Trusteeship and Governance from the Law Society of Ireland in conjunction with The Wheel.
Máire served five years as National Vice President and Trustee of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, and continues to be involved in the Charity, as current Chair of the Society’s Remuneration and Appointments Committee and as well as a member of the SVP’s Audit & Risk Committee. She is also the treasurer of her local conference in the Clonmel area.
Máire is also a trustee of a the Fethard based, St Bernard Children’s Services CLG and chairs the charity’s Human Resource and Governance Committee. Since January 2018 Máire is a member of the Board of the Charities Regulatory Authority and is also a member of the Authority’s Finance, Audit, Risk and Governance Committee.
Máire is also a member of a book club that meets regularly and has an active interest in the all things literature, the arts and drama.
