Despite the fact that an injured party can apply directly to the Injuries Board a significant majority of people still seek legal advice from a solicitor.

These are three reasons you should have legal advice:-

1. A solicitor can advise you of the statute of limitations as there are provisions under the Statute of Limitations Acts and Civil Liability Acts which mean that if you wait too long you may not be able to bring your claim.

2. You need to correctly identify the person or company that you are claiming against. Identifying the legal entities involved in an accident correctly and having the right persons or companies named on your application is absolutely essential. A solicitor can advise you about this.

3. If your case is accepted and assessed by the Injuries Board you should have advise as to the sufficiency of the assessment as if you accept it your claim is over and your solicitor can advise you as to whether it is a suitable amount and can also discuss with you if your injuries have settled to such a degree that is it wise to enter a settlement at that stage.

Donal T. Ryan Solicitors can give you the all the advice and guidance you need.

Irish solicitors may not calculate fees or other charges in contentious business as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement nor is it our practice to do so.
